I: The Age of Poetry

The age of poetry will destroy the world

in a flash of fumbling beauty

stanzas like atom bombs

and rhymes like lines

of soldiers keeping time

to beating barrels

of the front line.

Art (like the mind)

cannot comprehend its glory.
