And then shall a great river of blazing fire

Flow from heaven and consume all places,

The earth, the vast ocean, and the livid sea,

Lakes and rivers and fountains, and merciless Hades.

And the heavenly vault. But the lights of heaven

Shall clash together into one and into a desolate form.

For all the stars shall fall from heaven into the sea.

And all the souls of men shall gnash their teeth,

Burning in the river and the brimstone and the rush of fire

On the jagged floor, and ashes shall cover all things.

And then all the elements of the world shall be widowed:

Air, earth, sea, light, the vault of heaven, days and nights.

No longer shall birds fly in the air without number,

Nor shall swimming creatures swim any longer in the sea,

No ship shall sail with its cargo over the waves,

No guiding oxen shall plough the field,

No sound of trees under the wind; but all things at once

Shall it melt together, and purify into one.
